for me to poke through in the middle of the day in the middle of the night,
before surgery to waylay anxiety and isolation,
to take to surgery to distract evil spirits
and to carry around after surgery to aid and abet and nurture to give strength guidance and encouragement for healing
especially if I get tired or discouraged or
distracted and scared so that I lose my way
